Original handmade Linocut print by Saana Essel.

Saana creates art prints with traditional printmaking techniques. She draws her creativity from the northern forests and the blooming fields of Lapland (Finland), where she grew up as a child and from her need of seeking balance in her life in the clash of two cultures so different (Nordic Finnish / Middle Eastern Israeli) – being an important part of her identity today. Each art piece reflects the traveled paths and seasons of her life. Saana’s designs visualize natural elements immersed in symbolism and harmony.

All of her prints are designed, carved, and pressed by hand at her home studio. She endorses sustainability and quality through all stages of her work, thereby paying homage to her biggest inspiration, Nature itself.

* Linocut is an artistic block printing technique in which a hand-carved piece of linoleum (solidified linseed oil) is inked and stamped against paper or other surfaces to create an imprint of the carved design. Because the process is done by hand, all of the resulting prints are unique, original pieces of art.

This print is from an open edition.
